A helping hand

On September 28, Typhoon Ketsana ak.a. Typhoon Ondoy hit the Philippines especially central Manila and its neighboring cities. Heavy rains and floodwaters have claimed the lives of hundreds of Filipinos and displaced thousands of families left with homes covered in mud or submerged in floodwaters.

In line with this, DCEC started accepting donations from our learners both monetary and in-kind from October 3, 2009. We are thankful to all our learners who were more than willing to reach out and help the victims of typhoon Ketsana by giving used clothes and monetary contributions. Yesterday was the last day of accepting donations and we’ve almost finished packing 2 jumbo boxes to be sent to the typhoon victims through the kindness of San Isidro Labrador Parish Church in Quezon City, Philippines. The church has agreed to help DCEC in distributing our relief goods to the affected and disadvantaged areas in the country.

On the other hand, as of Friday, we have gathered JPY 53, 280. All monetary contributions will be deposited to the Philippine National Red Cross Philippine National Bank account to aid their relief operations to thousands of Filipino families in evacuation centers.

Again, we are grateful to everyone who made this effort possible.
