E: Who would like to start sharing his or her exciting activities last week?
Y: (quick to respond) I had a bad day yesterday.
M: Right.
Y: I went to the bank on my bicycle. On my way back home, the rear tire burst, so I had to walk the next 800 meters to reach home, dragging with me my bicycle while struggling to go up the slope on the sidewalk.
E: Wow! I could only imagine. But the heat and humidity, you must have been …
M: (laughing while filling in some details) He was soaked to the skin and looked harassed when he reached home!
Hahaha!
T: Poor you!
Y: And, as if some devil had been against me, as I was about to rest, I stopped dead in my tracks when I realized my wallet was gone.
T: Huh? You mean, you dropped it somewhere?
Y: Perhaps. So I went back to the same way I took earlier that day, desperately hoping that I could see it on the sidewalk somewhere. No such luck. I went back home feeling depressed and beat.
E: I'm so sorry for you.
M: (in a matter-of-fact tone) I always tell him not to put his wallet in his pocket, but he never listened.
Y: I regret, and I'm sorry. A lesson learned...
T: It must have been troublesome to cancel and request for new cards which were in your wallet.
Y: (His face brightened up) Fortunately, I didn't have to go through that ordeal. Within the day, I received a call from a kind soul who had found my belongings.
T: Great!
Y: I was so relieved that I got my wallet back. From now on, it will always be safely tucked into this (showing off the new leather pouch attached to his belt).
E: No wonder there seems to be something different in your entire appearance today. It looks good on you, mind you.

(ヨシとミホはご夫婦です)
E: 先週のエキサイティングな出来事をそれぞれ話してくれますか？
Y: (素早く答える) 昨日は最悪の日でした。
M: そう。
Y: 僕は自転車で銀行に行ったんだ。家に帰る途中、後ろのタイヤがパンクしたので、その自転車を引きずり、歩道の坂を上がり、家まで残り800メートルを苦労して帰ったんだ。
E: まあ！ 大変だったようね。それにしても太陽の熱と湿度で、あなたはたぶん…
M: (詳しい内容を付けたしながら笑っている)彼は家に帰ったとき汗だくでげっそりしていたの。ははは！
T: それは気の毒だよな！
Y: それから、何か魔物に取りつかれているのか、休憩しようとしたとき財布が無くなっていることに気づいて、その場に立ち尽くしちゃったよ。。
T: えっ？ もしや、それをどこかに落としてしまったってこと？
Y: たぶんね。だからその日に歩いた道の通りをまた戻りながら、どこか歩道に落ちてないかと必死に願ったよ。願いは届かなかったけどね。もう落ち込んで、疲れて家に帰ったんだ。
E: まあかわいそうに。
M: (事務的なトーンで言う) 私はいつも彼に財布をポケットに入れないように言ってるんだけど、一向に聞いてくれないの。
Y: 後悔して、申し訳なく思うよ。一つ学んだね…
T: 財布に入っていたクレジットカードをストップして、また新しいカードをもらったりするのは大変だったんじゃない。
Y: (彼の表情が明るくなる) 幸いなことに、その試練は逃れられたんだ。その日のうちに、僕の持ち物を見つけてくれた親切な方から電話をもらえたんだよ。
T: よかった！
Y: 財布が戻ってきてホッとしたよ。これからは、必ず(ベルトにしっかり付いている新しいポーチを見せながら)ここに大切にしまっておくよ。
E: どことなく今日は雰囲気が違うなと思ったわけね。それあなたに似合ってるわよ。念の為、言っておくけど。
