One fine day after a week of rain...
S : Welcome back to the office, Felicity!
Eu: Is everything all right? You look a bit down in the
mouth. How was your week-long holiday?
F : Contrary to the weather, my vacation was as dry as dust.
The weather literally rained on my parade. I had to stay
in the entire week.
Eu: Oh tell me about it. I haven't enjoyed my days off in
weeks due to the wet spell.
S : We have a word for that here in Japan. Felicity may be
considered as "Ame onna".
Eu: Ame onna? Never heard of it. Care to explain, Shima?
S : Ame onna is believed to be a Chinese goddess that is
considered a rain-bringer for crops. Farmers who depend
on keeping their crops watered, pray for the appearance
of beings like the "Ame-onna".
Eu: Rain woman, huh?
S : These days, Ame onna refers to an unlucky woman who
seems to be jinxed to have the rain follow her wherever
she goes. That is to say, she may ruin special events
such as weddings, BBQ parties or sporting events for ...
Eu: (interrupts) For wherever she travels, the rain falls.
Now, I get it!
(a clap of thunder boomed in the distance)
Say no more, I'm positive we have an Ame onna in our
midst.
(Shima and Euneece exchanged glances)
F : (raises her right hand) Guilty as charged.
Everyone bursts into laughter.

一週間雨が降り続いた後のある晴れた日...
S : フェリシティ、お帰り！
Eu: だいじょうぶ？気落ちしているように見えるけど。
一週間の休暇はどうだったの？
F : 天気と正反対で休暇は無味乾燥だったわ。
天気が文字通り私の楽しみを台無しにして、一週間家にいたわ。
Eu: 本当にそうよね。私は雨のせいでお休みを楽しめなかったわ。
S : 日本にはそういう時にひとつの言葉があるんだよ。フェリシティ
は”雨女”かも知れない。
Eu: Ame onna？聞いたことがないわ。島さん、説明してもらえる？
S : 雨女は中国の女神で、穀物に雨をもたらすと考えられているんだよ。
穀物に水を与え続けたい農家の人たちは雨女のような存在の出現
のためにお祈りするんだ。
Eu: レインウーマンね？
S : 最近では、雨女は彼女の行くところへ雨が付いて回るついていない
女性といわれているんだ。言い換えれば、彼女が結婚式やバーベ
キューパーティー、スポーツイベントなどの特別な行事を台無し
にするかもしれないってことだよ。
Eu: (割り込む) 彼女がどこへ行こうと雨が降る。
うん、わかった!
(遠くから雷鳴が鳴り響いた)
もう言わないで。私たちの中に雨女がいることは間違いないわ。
(島とユニースが見合う) F : (右手を挙げる) 有罪確定。
みんなが爆笑する。
